Rich Woolever, ASM Troop Guides
Rich is the Scoutmaster of Troop 51 and Advisor of Crew 51 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in La Mesa, CA.
Rich started Scouting in St. Louis, MO at Pack 281 as a Wolf. After earning his Arrow of Light and Youth Religious Award, he crossed over to Troop 95 where he continued to Life Scout then transferred to Police and Army Ranger Explorer Posts.
He returned to Scouting with his son Bryce in Pack 51 as the Assistant Cub Master and shortly after, the Cub Master for 3 years. While in the Pack he also served as a Tiger and Wolf Den Leader when parents were not available to be leaders. With the crossover of his son to Troop 51, Rich followed and served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for 1 year and has been the Scoutmaster for 7 years. While as the Scoutmaster, Rich was also the Order of the Arrow Shash-Tsoh Chapter Advisor for 3 years. He has also served as the Crew 51 Advisor for the past 2 years. Rich also attended the 2005 National Scout Jamboree as an Assistant Scoutmaster and was a Scoutmaster at the recent 2010 Centennial National Scout Jamboree.
Rich is a graduate of the first San Diego-Imperial Council’s Wood Badge for the 21st Century course, WE4-49-02 and is a BEAR. He has served on WE4-49-06, W4-49-07, and WE4-49-08 courses. Rich also attended the Council’s first Venturing Powder Horn course, staffed the next 3 courses, and is the Course Director for the 2010 course.
Rich is a Silver Beaver recipient and holds the Order of the Arrow’s Vigil honor, as well as the Scoutmaster Award of Merit and District Award of Merit along with many other Scouting awards.
When not at Scouts, Rich is a Field Service Engineering Manager for Rockwell Collins and a Senior Chief Petty Officer in the Navy Reserves. He is a graduate of the University of Phoenix with a Masters degree in Computer Information Systems. Rich is a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus at St. Martin of Tours; a volunteer at St. Martin’s Academy, Rancho San Diego Girl’s Softball League, and Steele Canyon Youth Football and Cheer as a proud Cheer Dad.
In addition to his Eagle Scout and Venture son Bryce (18), Rich has 2 Girl Scout daughters, Kyleigh (12) and Madison (9) that are future Venturing Scouts.
