Dave Savage, ASM Facilities
Dave is currently serving two roles in scouting as a WEBELOS Den Leader for Pack 816 and ASM for Troop 816 in Chula Vista.
As a member of Wood Badge class WE4-49-08 and a Mighty Bear, Dave has encouraged several members of his pack to attend Wood Badge. He recruited two for 09 and recently recruited his Committee Chair / Asst. WEBELOS Den Leader for this year’s course.
His pack responsibilities outside the Den include serving as the Pinewood Derby Race Chairman for Pack 816 during 2009 and 2010 and training in Leave No Trace.
Dave’s interests in scouting are geared toward service and high adventure activities. As a Public Works supervisor he has had the opportunity to organize a tree planting, park clean up and is currently planning other service projects to benefit the community. He is HALLT and Water Trek trained and attending Powder Horn for 2010. As an avid outdoorsman Dave feels obligated to pass those skills and traditions on. He is always eager to add to his outdoor skills and has taken on the lead role of organizing a high adventure group within the troop. Currently Dave is the Crew Advisor for Troop 816’s expedition to Philmont for the summer of 2011.
During his professional life Dave has spent 20 years in road and highway construction. He plans to use those skills in his role as ASM for facilities.
Dave is a graduate of SDSU 2007 and proud to be one a few that was on the 7-year plan.
When not scouting, Dave coaches youth football and little league baseball. As a coach he uses this opportunity to pass on the values of the scout oath and law to the youth in his community that are not affiliated with scouting. He also lets the parents know about the great opportunities scouting has to offer.
Dave is a proud father of 4 children - 1 girl and 3 boys. The older boys are active in scouts. His 14 year old is a Star scout and 9 year old is a WEBELOS. He has a 2 year old who can’t wait to start his scouting adventure.
Dave is totally excited and feels blessed to be serving with all the awesome individuals on the WE6-49-11 Wood Badge staff.
